ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni met Union representatives
Press Release by ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni
Turin/Terni, December 27
In today’s meeting between representatives from the trade unions and ThyssenKrupp, the company reiterated its willingness to work with its social partners to find the best possible solutions for the employees in Turin.
In line with the agreement signed with the union organizations on July 25, the company proposed to bring forward the special layoff benefits (“Cassa Integrazione Straordinaria”) to December 10.
This would provide employees with economic safeguards in line with the conditions already defined in the aforementioned agreement.
After the company recognized today that it will not be possible to reach a common solution, it guaranteed to pay the wages of all employees in Turin for the months of December and January (including the period of 30 days already paid) in the expectation that it will be possible to reach a decision on the future of the plant. A new meeting should then take place at national level, as demanded by the unions. This is planned for early January. Wages will therefore be paid tomorrow, December 28, as normal.
The working time lost in December will be covered by granting additional leave over and above the contractually agreed period. This will have no impact on any outstanding leave and will also apply to those who have no remaining leave.
