Fire in Turin: ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni regrets to announce death of employee

Terni/Turin, December 6th

ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni regrets to announce a fatal accident affecting one of its employees at the Turin site. The company would like to express its sadness to the family of the deceased employee and its solidarity with all concerned.

In the night of December 5, a contained fire broke out on a treatment line at the ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni plant in Turin. Seven of our employees were involved in attempting to extinguish the fire, the causes of which are still under investigation; one of them lost his life and six are seriously injured.  With the help of the fire service and other rescue workers, the injured employees were given medical care on site before being taken to hospital. Firefighters brought the fire under control.

The authorities of Terni and Turin, all trade unions and all employers’ associations join us in expressing their sorrow and solidarity with all employees and their families. The company confirms that it is collaborating fully with the competent authorities to piece together the facts.
