- 2005
- On October 1, 2005, ThyssenKrupp Stainless is given the status of an independent segment within the ThyssenKrupp Group. On 14th of December ThyssenKrupp Stainless GmbH changes their legal form to ThyssenKrupp Stainless AG.
- 2004
- ThyssenKrupp Stainless International is established in Krefeld.
- 2002
- At the start of the year Krupp Thyssen Stainless and its subsidiaries are renamed ThyssenKrupp to give the Group subsidiaries a uniform image and underline the broad range of products and services available under the joint brand.
- 2001
- In October, the German export company Krupp Thyssen Nirosta Export is incorporated into the Stainless Steel business unit. In November, the first phase of the Shanghai Krupp Stainless cold rolling mill in China is inaugurated in the presence of German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder.
- 1999
- The full merger of Thyssen and Krupp is completed. All activities of the two groups are combined under the roof of ThyssenKrupp AG. Krupp Thyssen Stainless GmbH becomes holding company for the Stainless Steel business unit in the ThyssenKrupp Steel segment and relocates to Duisburg. In the same year, Krupp VDM, the world’s leading producer of nickel alloys, is incorporated into Krupp Thyssen Stainless.
- 1999
- The joint venture Shanghai Krupp Stainless is formally established in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. Krupp Thyssen Stainless holds a 60 percent controlling interest. The other joint venture partner is the Baosteel Group with a share of 40 percent.
- 1997
- Krupp Thyssen Stainless AG, with registered office in Essen, is established as holding company for the Stainless business in the Krupp group. The large number of strategic and particularly international projects make it necessary to separate strategic functions from operating business.
- 1995
- In 1995, the Krupp and Thyssen groups concentrate their flat stainless steel activities in Krupp Thyssen Nirosta GmbH with registered office in Bochum, forming the world’s biggest producer in the sector.
- 1994
- Thyssen Stahl Rostfrei GmbH is established as a subsidiary of Thyssen Stahl AG. At the same time, Krupp Nirosta GmbH is founded as a subsidiary of Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp.
